e-news march 2007
In this issue:
Last month we gave a small talk to the nice people of Hitchin Rotary Club. We were rubbish! They were gracious and generous! and donated £100 to bowy house THANK YOU! Next time we promise to be a little more? well? better?
In February we loved the SA DTI, and this month, because love is fickle, we now love all those involved with the Cape Town Design Indaba! read more.
Several customers have asked to view the adila collection in person, learn a bit more about how and where the products are produced. 'The adila Collection Viewing' will take place this summer, in the Cambridge area. A relaxed social event, where you can enjoy a glass of excellent South African 'fair-trade' wine and hopefully sit in the sun? To be added to the guest list click invitation stating how many guests will be attending, bring your friends! (Please note sales will NOT be possible during the event - but you can purchase on line afterwards)

e-art exhibition by dutch artist Altaf Kramer ...
Our e-art exhibition of twenty two new canvases by Dutch artist Altaf Kramer are now on show.
Figurative, abstract, informative, mystical, calming, inspiring, intriguing, exciting, spiritual, beautiful ...? We are sure these are NOT the correct words to describe art? They are however the words used in the adila office when Altaf's work was received.
Whatever you choose to call it? enjoy it!

change is good, thinking too much is not ... !
The start of a new company can be quite intense. It's good to know your direction, but as John (adila's web wizard) pointed out, you can think a little too much? After too much thinking, the following web site changes were made, more to come!
Each time you visit the adila on line store, 3 new images will appear, simply click to view the full page and enter the site. The element of chance creates some interesting compositions. The Dadaists (group of artists 1917 approx) called this 'according to the laws of chance' we call it 'technology'. Try it for yourself, click the home button and create your own art.
Check out the new press page, in true adila style, we have kept it brief, to request the full feature please email info@adila.co.uk
We were extremely pleased to have received full BAFTS (British Association of Fair Trade Shops) accreditation, just two months into trading. However we never told anyone, so now there it is, for everyone to see, on the about us page, confirming we are truly FAIR TRADE!

cape town design indaba ...
What is it? A major and exciting gathering of South African designers and producers who proudly present their unique style. Everything from pants to low cost prefab housing. The Indaba is not elitist, through SA DTI sponsorship, many small community / township projects were able to participate.
Why were we there? adila sources its products from South Africa. We were invited to attend to meet designers, view the products, visit productions, discuss employment policies etc.
"Indaba" is a Zulu word, means getting together. The Zulu elders would get together to discuss important matters, pass on folk lore, and that's exactly what we did! What we are still doing!
Our thanks to the following who made this trip both possible and enjoyable ... Karen, Julia, Shaunnelle, Lauren and Jacob.
