e-news October 2006
In this issue:
It's the second issue of adila e-news already! our first stated we would always be brief, however Louisa' s account of her recent visit to South Africa runs to several pages alone. Here we will give a brief overview, a full account will be posted to the adila web site on Louisa's return in November. Our September 'product of the month' proved so popular (hope you're all making good use of your 'Minnies?) we intend to make this a regular feature. Allowing you purchase the chosen product at 25% discount for one month only. With the arrival of Autumn, we thought the 'classic Bessie' would be the perfect choice for October.
Adila has gained some great publicity during the past month, both with South African and UK publications. A new press page will be added to the web site shortly.
Lastly, we are very pleased to make our first donation to the adila sponsored project. Admittedly it was a small amount, but hopefully the first of many. |

louisa power visits bowy house in south africa ...
Bowy House (adila's sponsored project) is a hospice for infants and young children with HIV/AIDS. This was our first visit to meet the people who run Bowy and care for the 15 children who currently live there. Bowy is a traditional single story, thick walled brick house, situated on a wide residential street in Paarl, South Africa. Louisa was greeted by Lalie, a young Afrikaans women with a background in PR, Lalie did not see herself running a project like Bowy House four years ago, and now could not see herself doing anything else. Lalie is assisted by Jenny in the office, Cornae was helping feed the children lunch, along with many volunteers. We asked Louisa to try and sum up in a few words the impression she took away from the visit.
... "every child was smiling or content, all the cots contained a selection of teddies or soft toys, the garden was sunny with a newly planted vegetable plot. The overall feeling was that every child received individual attention, was loved and happy. One thing stayed in my mind on the drive back to Langebaan, a comment made by Lalie when asked how she managed to juggle the business side of Bowy House, with the demands of 15 active children? Lalie replied that things were often left, updating the web site, making that call, preferring instead to go pick up a child that is crying ".... that's always my priority, there's no place for tears at Bowy House"
A full account of Louisa's visit will be posted to the adila web site on her return from South Africa.
