about us

adila (just & fair) launched July 2006, the story began Nov 2005. We had a great idea, small budget and lots of enthusiasm. We set off in our 35yr old beetle around Cape Town and the West Coast of South Africa. Our aim? To seek out fair-trade, eco-friendly products that were funky, contemporary, handmade, unique and beautiful!

We wanted traditional skills applied to modern design, waste and re-cycled materials transformed into useful and desirable objects.

We visited and spoke with the people who actually, weave, knit, string beads, and design. Each story is unique, Bessie at the helm of her farm, Jeannette's passion for design and her community, Alison's innovative vision and enthusiasm are a few amongst many.
